Marco "DJ Polo" Tavares is a first-generation Cape Verdean who came to the United States at the age of 7 and settled with his family in Mattapan, Boston. As Marco adjusted to American culture, he became friends with Jose Fortunato in high school. That friendship blossomed into a brotherhood that would change his life forever. Through Jose, Marco met Jeffrey Fortunato, also known as hip-hop artist Moufy. Moufy and Marco grew a tight bond due to the loyalty and respect his brother Jose already had for Marco. It was obvious they were destined to cross paths and embark on a special journey as a family.

It wasn't until 2010 that Marco found his true passion. As Moufy began his quest towards success in the music industry, Marco started out as a promotional street team member for StarGang. Through his involvement in Moufy's career, Marco began to deepen and expand his love for music. When the team realized that Moufy needed a DJ, Marco eagerly stepped up to the challenge. After a few months of training he was ready to hit the stage with Moufy, and DJ Polo was born. 
 

DJ Polo has been touring with Moufy ever since, traveling all over New England and beyond, from the Paradise Rock Club in downtown Boston to the historic Gramercy Theater in New York City. DJ Polo has performed opening sets for some of the biggest names in music, including J Cole, Wale, & Tyga. He’s spun at West Virginia University to a crowd of 1000+, and he’s held down some of the biggest 21-and-under events. From hip-hop to house music to Top 40, DJ Polo is one of the most versatile up-and-coming DJs in Boston.
